Answer
Many toolmakers regard 5/16 and 8mm to be interchangeable. 5/16 is about 2 thousandths of an inch smaller, 0.06096mm, but it shouldn’t matter on a hardened Allen bolt, and I’ve never stripped the internal socket of a hardened steel Allen bolt.
due to the fact that there are just 0.04/16 “By computation, there is a discrepancy of 0.0625mm. As a result, the 8mm will be too big for the 5/16″ fastener, while the 5/16” will be too tiny for the 8mm. Because of the fastener manufacturers’ tolerances, you can probably use any socket on either bolt.

2mm is around 1/16 inch. 3mm is nearly an eighth of an inch.
Each each line on a metric ruler represents a millimetre (mm). Centimeters are represented by the numbers on the ruler (cm). Each centimetre is divided into ten millimetres. The decimal point is shifted one position to the right when translating from centimetres to millimetres.

Rulers are typically 30 cm long and are labelled with prominent numerals. There should be ten smaller markings called millimetres between each centimetre (cm) mark (mm).

Wrenches in the following sizes are required: 11,13,15,17,19,22,24,27,30,32,36mm. I think the M8 bolt that comes with the 15mm wrench is the correct one. The heads of M8s are normally 12 or 13mm in diameter.
3/8″ = 9.525 mm, 5/16″ = 7.9375 mm Between the bolt sizes stated are 8 and 9 mm.

The answer to your question is that M8 refers to a metric 8mm diameter machine screw/hexagon headed fully threaded set screw. Therefore there is a great difference in actual diameter and type of thread between the two screws; the #8 woodscrew actually being close to half the size in diameter than the metric screw is.
