A Vaucluse trophy home with seven bedrooms, three kitchens, two internal lifts and a 20-car garage has just sold for an incredible $63m after three years on the market.
It’s not even a waterfront, although there are iconic views of Sydney Harbour, the Bridge and Opera House.
And the Wentworth Rd residence has a cinema, gym, TWO swimming pools, and a function centre with its own garage.
The sale of the property, owned by the prominent corporate lawyer John Landerer and his wife, Michelle, is not only the most expensive sale in Sydney this year — it’s the sixth most expensive house sale ever in Australia.
Sadly, there are no interior pictures of the property available. Perhaps that’s partly why it took so long to sell!

The house next door is La Mer, the home James Packer sold for $70m to the Chinese Australian businessman Chau Chak Wing.
The buyer of the Landerer home also hails from China, but my sources have rejected a report that this person had been circling the property for a year.
The home was an open-listing, meaning that at least six real estate agents were quietly showing the property to buyers.

The massive limestone compound, known as ‘Ganeden’, is on a 2400 sqm hillside block.
Property records show that it was once the site of three homes with the first site, owned by David and Agnes Ross, purchased by Mr Landerer, and his wife, Michelle, in October, 1988, for $5.2 million.
The Landerers then bought the two houses behind — 43 and 45 Vaucluse Rd — in the mid 1990s to create a huge building site, with architect Stephen Gergely commissioned to build the massive new home.
The sale is one of several big sales in Sydney’s east in the past week, including one in Rose Bay of close to $30m and another of more than $20m.
