Bartolone, a California native, played wide receiver at Washington State, where he led the team in receptions as a true freshman for coach Mike Leach. Prior to Jackson State, Bartolone was at the University of Nevada as an offensive analyst and assistant quarterbacks coach. During the 2021 season, the Wolfpack was fourth in the country in pass offense and 15th in scoring under Bartolone.

Bartolone is the latest move in the overhaul of the Buffaloes’ coaching staff. It started on Dec. 3 when Sanders, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, became Colorado’s head coach after compiling a 27-5 record at Jackson State. Colorado is expected to hire Kent State head coach Sean Lewis as its next offensive coordinator, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Athletic last week. Lewis amassed a 24-31 record in five seasons with the Golden Flashes.
The Buffaloes finished with a 1-11 record during the 2022 season.
